Educators' Forum is a twice-yearly gathering for art educators from all levels, and provides a platform for discussions that center on teaching art in the classroom. The focus group provides behind-the-scenes access to curators, artists, and the Museum’s collection. The gathering is free and open to educators across Indonesia.

Community involvement can lead to a vibrant art education program. The implementation of community-based learning would require a large number of people to volunteer their time, knowledge, and skills, such as local historians, artists, craftspeople, parents, family members, and community members to help students engage with and appreciate local history, culture, and arts (Clark & Zimmerman, 2000). Therefore collaboration can help create an integrated learning environment that is not only accessible but also more relevant to the community. This will also support teachers and educators in the formal education sector to enhance their expertise while empowering the larger community through meaningful projects and programs that are enriching and educational (Ulbricht, 2005).

This approach is not entirely new and foreign in Indonesia. There are already several initiatives to support local community-based learning, particularly in rural areas that use art and regional issues as a way to educate the community, resulting in a creative, cross-disciplinary learning ecosystem with a strong hold in locality.

Museum MACAN has worked to support educators with access to materials and programs to help schools across from all backgrounds. In addition to presentations by some of the leading speakers, through this Educator Forum, we hope to provide a platform for sharing ideas and generating feedback to continue providing quality art education opportunities across our network. MACAN Museum hopes to be able to reach more educators across all regions to contribute, motivate and support effective learning activities.
