Educators' Forum is a twice-yearly gathering for art educators from all levels, and provides a platform for discussions that center on teaching art in the classroom. The focus group provides behind-the-scenes access to curators, artists, and the Museum’s collection. The gathering is free and open to educators across Indonesia.

This Educators' Forum opens up a conversation about how to support teachers, parents and students at this disruptive time, and illustrates the important role that art educators have in supporting the emotional wellbeing of their students.

Art education can be a valuable tool in supporting the emotional development of children. Professional Art Therapy is a form of therapy that incorporates visual media and creative expression as a central role in the psychotherapeutic relationship established between the art therapist and the patient (Edwards, 2014). Given its effectiveness, art therapy has the potential to be implemented in schools and may be able to contribute several advantages.

Studies have found that art therapy in school framework helps resolve emotional problems and can assist students to adapt to the school system (Randick & Dermer, 2013; Regev, et al., 2015). By engaging in hands-on activity and expressing themselves with visual media, art therapy provides a safe space for participants to explore and articulate feelings, which may be difficult to put into words. Through creative expressions, teachers and schools can also benefit from this counseling approach as a way to overcome the difficulties that students encounter at school (Regev, et al., 2015).
