Educators' Forum is a twice-yearly gathering for art educators from all levels, and provides a platform for discussions that center on teaching art in the classroom. The focus group provides behind-the-scenes access to curators, artists, and the Museum’s collection. The gathering is free and open to educators across Indonesia.

Merdeka Belajar (Emancipated Learning) is a policy program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This policy shifts the conventional paradigm of formal education in Indonesia and puts emphasis on the students’ learning interests and experiences, expanding the teachers’ role from instructors to flexible facilitators.

Under this approach, teachers and educators have the freedom to adapt and modify the basic competencies of the Merdeka Belajar, therefore providing the students with opportunities to develop themselves according to their individual uniqueness and potential. By implementing this breakthrough curriculum, Merdeka Belajar is expected to transform all aspects of formal education as the shift from exam-oriented grading to project-based learning will enhance critical thinking, encourage innovation, and enable more independent initiatives led by both the teachers and students. In essence, Merdeka Belajar aims to emancipate schools, educators, and students in anticipation of a generation of responsive, creative problem solvers.

This forum will navigate through the framework of interdisciplinary and art education to see how this collective approach can help make the process of learning more enjoyable for students, teachers, parents, and all education stakeholders involved.
