“In this era, the body no longer plays an essential role to convey the artist’s message, agree or disagree?“

Performance arts is a liberating field in the arts, but at the same time confusing some people. Identic with the use of body, this debate will track the traces to identify the meanings of various acts to figure out the characteristic. Does the body play the role of the object or the subject in performance arts? Does the audience play the role of the spectator? Who is watching and why?

This Open Debate program will be facilitated by three arts professionals:

1. Ening Nurjanah (Program Manager, Komunitas Salihara);
2. Rebecca Kezia (Education and Discourse Program Coordinator, Komunitas Salihara);
3. Asep Topan (Curator, Museum MACAN).
