About the Program
Throughout history, Eastern Indonesia, or specifically Papua, is observed through the lens of modern development, a discourse that has often overlooked the nuance of locality and community involvement. Papua today is a pluralistic society, where past traditions are intertwined with the demands of the present times and the challenges of the future. With its members spread across several cities in Papua, the practice of Udeido Collective explores the traditions and beliefs of their ancestors to address the way of life of the present generation.
This artists' talk session will discuss how the concepts of life, songs, folklore, and legends from various tribes in Papua can still be relevant in the contemporary era. In particular, this session will discuss the creative process of Udeido Collective, which raises social and humanities issues through an artistic approach and their hopes for the future of Papua from the point of view of young artists.
Artists' Talk Friday, 12 November 2021 at 3–5 PM (GMT+7) Moderated by Asri Winata (Assistant Curator, Museum MACAN). This program will be delivered in Bahasa Indonesia. Click the button below to register now!
