An anthology of contemporary Indonesian writing inspired by the work of Agus Suwage
About the Publication
Museum MACAN is proud to launch Pressure and Pleasure, an anthology of contemporary Indonesian writings inspired by the exhibition 'Agus Suwage: The Theater of Me'. Six leading and emerging Indonesian authors: Erni Aladjai, Eka Kurniawan, Goenawan Mohamad, Laksmi Pamuntjak, Mahfud Ikhwan, and Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie have been commissioned to each develop a new literary work inspired by the work of Agus Suwage. This anthology explores the ongoing influences of the artist’s works and ideas on generations of artists and critical thinkers.
Pressure and Pleasure uses a creative writing approach to delve into Agus Suwage’s artistic practice. The line up of authors include fiction writers, essayists, and playwrights, with each author creating their own interpretation of Agus Suwage’s work and practice. Pressure and Pleasure presented by Museum MACAN, offers an alternative perspective on how to perceive the works of contemporary artists and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration through this publication.
This book release is supported by Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, Titik Dua as venue and hotel partner, and Nusantara by Locavore as event supporter.
