About the Program
Patricia Piccinini: CARE explores issues around biotechnology through the presentation of chimeras —a hybrid creature that combines different organisms and objects— that become the main visuals of the artist’s works.
The ideas behind chimeras are based on the possibility of modifications of the bodies in the context of environmental and lifestyle changes, such as “The Cleaner” that is based on polluted oceans, or in other chimeras that combine animals and shoes, which develop from issues surrounding identity and modern consumerism.
KULIKPLASTIK: Junk Toys Workshop presents Jefry Arianto, Bandung-based artist also known as Kunyah Plastik. Departing from his interest in old toys, Jefry recycles plastic toys into new forms. Through this creative exploration, he raises awareness of plastic waste from discarded toys that pollutes the environment.
