We invite artist Natasha Tontey to introduce her latest project, Primate Visions: Macaque Macabre, which incorporates research into the indigenous culture in Minahasa and amateur primatology as part of the artistic process.

About the Speaker
Denni H.R. Pinontoan is the Director of PUKKAT – Pusat Kajian Kebudayaan Indonesia Timur (Center of East Indonesia Cultural Studies). He finished his studies in the Faculty of Theology, UKIT – Indonesia Christian University of Tomohon with a dissertation on identity in multicultural societies.
With an experience and background in journalism, Denni is interested in identity and pluralism issues, in particular how these relate to politics, cultural, and religions. In 2023, he published “The Art of ‘Wolay’”, a book that explores the tradition of the indigenous communities in Po’opo in Southern Minahasa.
He was a lecturer in the Faculty of Theology, UKIT and currently teaches at the IAKN – Christian Institute of Manado.
