Xu Bing is one of the world’s most influential Chinese contemporary artists. At the opening week of his major retrospective in MACAN, Xu Bing: Thought and Method, join the artist himself on an open lecture, where he’s be discussing his early explorations of culture, language, and traditional knowledge systems to the recent meditations on technology and modernity in the 21st century; his experience living in both China and the USA; as well as the cultural relevance of the exhibition to Indonesian society.

At the lecture, Alia Swastika and professor in printmaking Setiawan Sabana will be responding to Xu Bing’s practice from an art and academic perspectives.
